Offered by Information and Communications Technology Council
Finding skilled digital talent can be challenging, especially for businesses that want to grow without taking on the full cost of a new hire. The ICTC — Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Digital program is designed to make it easier for Canadian organizations to bring post-secondary students into their teams while developing practical, job-ready skills. Delivered nationally by the Information and Communications Technology Council, this initiative focuses on roles connected to the digital economy, including software, data, cybersecurity, IT support, and other technology-driven functions.
Through WIL Digital, eligible businesses and not-for-profit organizations can receive non-repayable wage support to offset a significant portion of a student’s salary, with funding reaching up to about $7,000 per placement. Enhanced support is available when hiring students from underrepresented groups, helping employers build more inclusive teams while addressing real workforce needs. The emphasis is on providing meaningful, hands-on work experiences that contribute to both the student’s learning and the organization’s operational goals, whether that means supporting a new project, expanding internal capacity, or testing out future talent.
The program is currently accepting applications on an ongoing basis, with funding available for approved placements while allocations last. For employers looking to strengthen their digital capabilities and explore affordable ways to hire emerging talent, reviewing the full details of ICTC’s WIL Digital program can help determine if it’s the right fit.
