Tourism Growth Program (TGP)

Tourism businesses and community organizations across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba have played a key role in driving regional economic growth, particularly as destinations look to expand offerings beyond peak seasons and traditional markets. The Tourism Growth Program was created to help strengthen that momentum by supporting new and enhanced tourism experiences, infrastructure, and visitor attractions throughout the Prairie provinces. Delivered by Prairies Economic Development Canada as part of a broader federal tourism strategy, the program focuses on long-term growth, diversification, and sustainability within the sector.

Through the Tourism Growth Program, eligible projects have been able to access meaningful funding support to develop tourism products that attract visitors, extend the tourism season, or create stronger links between urban and rural destinations. The program places particular emphasis on Indigenous tourism initiatives, active and outdoor experiences, and projects that deliver lasting economic, cultural, or environmental benefits to communities. Funding amounts have varied by project scope and applicant type, with support structured to offset a portion of eligible costs rather than cover them in full.

It’s important to note that the intake period for the Tourism Growth Program in the Prairie provinces is currently closed, and only applications submitted before the deadline are being considered, subject to remaining funds.
