Offered by Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC)
For Indigenous women and gender-diverse entrepreneurs navigating the realities of starting or growing a business, access to the right guidance and community can be just as valuable as financial capital. The Entrepreneurial Outreach and Navigation Program, known as #BeTheDrum, was created to meet that need by surrounding entrepreneurs with mentorship, practical tools, and culturally grounded support that reflects Indigenous values and ways of doing business.
Delivered nationally by the Native Women’s Association of Canada, #BeTheDrum builds on years of experience supporting Indigenous entrepreneurship through its broader business network. Rather than focusing on a single funding stream, the program connects participants to one-on-one navigation support, peer circles, workshops, and live Q&A sessions designed to help entrepreneurs make informed decisions and move their ideas forward. Participants can access business resources, connect with other Indigenous founders across sectors, and gain visibility through a women’s business directory, creating opportunities that extend beyond their local community.
The program is well suited for Indigenous entrepreneurs at different stages, particularly those looking to strengthen their business foundations, expand their networks, or gain clarity on next steps. With non-repayable support that varies depending on needs and activities, #BeTheDrum offers a flexible, relationship-driven approach to entrepreneurship. Business owners interested in mentorship-led support rooted in community may want to explore the full details to see how this program could support their journey.
