Offered by Ontario Centre of Innovation
Ontario companies developing advanced technology often face a common hurdle: moving from a proven solution to real-world, sector-wide adoption. The CIT — Sector Adoption Program is designed to help bridge that gap by supporting collaborative projects that tackle defined industry challenges using emerging technologies. Delivered by the Ontario Centre of Innovation, this program focuses on helping businesses demonstrate not just technical capability, but clear market demand and scalability within a one-year project window.
The program is built around consortia, pairing an Ontario-based small or mid-sized business as the lead with at least one strategic partner that brings market pull. It is particularly well suited to companies that have already developed or commercialized solutions in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics, advanced networks, blockchain, or quantum technologies. Funding can reach up to about one million dollars and is structured to share risk, with participating companies contributing a significant portion of project costs alongside OCI support. By the end of the project, participants are expected to showcase a working solution with strong potential for wide-scale adoption across a sector.
For Ontario innovators looking to validate their technology in a real market context and accelerate adoption through strategic partnerships, the CIT — Sector Adoption Program offers a compelling opportunity worth exploring in more detail.
