Offered by Springboard Atlantic Inc.
For early-stage companies, protecting and leveraging intellectual property can be the difference between scaling confidently and losing ground to competitors. The Atlantic IP Advantage — IP Strategy Development program is designed to help Canadian start-ups turn innovative ideas into defensible business assets by building a clear, executable IP strategy with professional support. Delivered by Springboard Atlantic, this initiative focuses on making IP planning accessible at a stage when founders often lack in-house expertise.
Through the program, eligible start-ups can receive non-repayable funding of up to roughly $50,000 to cover most of the cost of working with experienced IP service providers. Rather than offering generic advice, the support is tailored to each company’s business model, technology, and growth plans. Founders are guided through understanding the IP landscape they operate in and developing a strategy that aligns with commercialization goals, investment readiness, and long-term market positioning. Funding is paid directly to the approved IP professionals, reducing financial strain on young companies.
The program also supports moving from planning to action, helping start-ups implement their finalized IP strategies once they are in place. Available to start-ups across Canada that meet certain requirements, the Atlantic IP Advantage runs periodic intakes rather than continuous applications. For founders who see IP as a core part of their growth strategy, learning more about how this program works could be a smart next step.
