Advancing Hydrogen – Competition 2

As hydrogen continues to emerge as a key pillar of Alberta’s clean energy future, businesses working on hydrogen technologies often face a common challenge: moving innovations from concept into real-world deployment. Advancing Hydrogen – Competition 2 is designed to help close that gap by supporting projects that strengthen Alberta’s hydrogen value chain, from production and storage through to end-use applications in mobility, heat, power generation, and industrial processes.

Delivered by Alberta Innovates through the Hydrogen Centre of Excellence, this second funding round builds on the province’s Hydrogen Roadmap and is supported in collaboration with Natural Resources Canada and Emissions Reduction Alberta. The program focuses on projects that can demonstrate a clear pathway to impact in Alberta, whether that means reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enabling economic diversification, or positioning the province as a global supplier of clean hydrogen solutions. Non-repayable funding of up to roughly $2 million is available to help offset the costs of research, development, validation, and early deployment, particularly for technologies that are beyond the idea stage but not yet fully commercial.
